Our Work Out Your Money team in the Community and in Schools has won a prestigious award from the Illegal Money Lending team which was presented at an event in Havant Plaza with the Mayor of Havant and other invited guests.  The team won a £3000 grant which will be used to make some videos for use in training and on our websites.  Well done to the team and you can read an article on the Portsmouth News website here: Portsmouth News 21.04.2017  We had a special cake which was cut by the Loan Sharks team special Shark:

Advice Manager Jane from Citizens Advice Havant got the chance to have a quick chat with Moneysavingexpert Martin Lewis at the Citizens Advice conference at Warwick University on September 20th. As it's time for a new batch of students to start uni, Martin was keen to encourage them to think of student loans as a Graduate Contribution rather than a debt. Student loans seem like a huge millstone round young people's necks, whereas more than likely they'll never end up repaying them. Far better to look at them as a kind of tax that only gets paid when they earn enough. Then they can concentrate on saving for important things like a house, rather than worrying about the amount of student loan outstanding. Some parents even consider repaying the debt when they'd be better off using spare cash for helping wth a house deposit instead.

We are taking part in the Chichester Legal Walk on Tuesday 13th September - a 10k sponsored walk to raise funds for Citizens Advice Havant and other free advice providers in the area.  All the money we raise comes back to us. You can sponsor us by going to and even add gift aid to your donation.  It will help us to fund our vital work to help people in our local area with the problems they face.  The fundraising page will be open for several months so you can still contribute after the event.

Amanda, Service Delivery Manager at Citizens Advice Havant overcame her fear of flying to take a flight in a light aircraft piloted by Mike, a volunteer assessor.  They flew over to the Isle of Wight for a quick cuppa and then back to the mainland.  The event was sponsored by friends and family and raised money for Citizens Advice Havant and also for another charity Tree of Hope to raise money for Mike's grandson Jack who has cerebral palsy, to pay for a selective dorsal rhizotomy operation and physiotherapy.  We are happy to report that that charity has now reached its target for the treatment.

After many years in our quaint but dilapidated office in St George’s Walk, the Waterlooville office has had to move out for the site to be redeveloped. We have moved much of the service back into the main Citizens Advice Havant offices in Leigh Park Community Centre to open 5 days a week. There is currently a “pop up” Citizens Advice in Waterlooville library on Mondays on the second floor. This we hope to extend gradually once we have completed the necessary contracts so that there is a permanent base in the library and longer opening hours as well. Currently the Monday service offers a limited number of appointments for clients unable to travel to Havant, but there is a drop in service for all from 10 till 2. Advice is also available on the telephone Adviceline 03444 111 306 and via web-chat and online for those unable to travel

Waterlooville library is the new home for Citizens Advice Havant.  You can find us on the second floor in the Reference library.  We are just a pop-up shop on Mondays from 10 - 2pm at the moment, but when all the formal contracts are signed we should have a dedicated space and some interview rooms for more private conversations.  Just bear with us while we get sorted!  The Havant office is open 5 days a week in Leigh Park Community Centre and we hope to open more days in Waterlooville very soon.  Watch this space!
