Pension Wise is a service introduced by the Government in April 2015
The service helps you understand your options at retirement if you have a defined contribution pension (that is a pension pot that you can decide what to do with, rather than a final salary or defined benefit pension).
There are three channels of guidance available:
- Website:Pension Wise
- Telephone appointment through The Pensions Advisory Service 0300 330 1001 (from outside the UK: +44 20 3733 3495). Opening hours: 8am - 10pm, every day. Calls cost the same as a normal call - if your calls are free, it’s included.
- Face to face appointment through Citizens Advice Pension Wise Centres booked through your local Citizens Advice at a location near you. Your local Citizens Advice can book the appointment for you if: You are over 50 years old (or able to access the pension because of illness or because you have inherited it). You have a pension pot that you can decide how to spend. You are making the decisions about your pension in the next 6 months (any longer and it may be too soon for the guidance to be beneficial). Contact your local Citizens Advice for details and to book an appointment
Pension Wise Guidance Specialists don’t recommend any products or companies and won’t tell you how to invest your money.
